About Minneriya

A wildlife experience like no other
Minneriya is more than a destination for elephant watching. Its diverse landscapes include dry tropical forests, scrubland, riverine vegetation, and open grasslands, supporting a variety of wildlife.

When is the best time to visit?
June to September is generally a popular period for elephant watching, as seasonal conditions can bring large numbers of elephants to the Minneriya Tank and its surrounding grasslands.
The exact timing and size of the gathering vary with rainfall, water levels, and elephant movements. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, but Minneriya remains a rewarding destination throughout the year for those who appreciate elephants, landscapes, and untamed nature.
