Van Rental in Sri Lanka

Once a group passes four people with luggage, a car stops working and a van starts making sense. Vans on ROFI run from compact people carriers up to high-roof minibuses, and most are offered with a driver as well as self-drive. For a group tour with a full itinerary, the driver is usually the better buy.

Every van here is listed by its owner with their own rate and their own vehicle photographs, so you can see the actual seating and luggage space before you commit.

Choosing a size

Count the luggage, not just the people. A van rated for nine will not take nine suitcases as well; the high-roof versions will. For an airport run with a family of five and their bags, a mid-size van is the comfortable choice over a seven-seat SUV.

Ask the owner about the air conditioning layout if you are travelling with the back row occupied. Not every van cools the rear evenly, and the coast is hot.

Vans with a driver

Most group bookings on the platform are vans with a driver. One vehicle, one driver, a whole itinerary and nobody in the group has to negotiate a mountain road while everyone else looks at the view.

For multi-day trips confirm with the owner how the driver’s meals and accommodation are handled; it is normally included in the quoted daily rate.

Questions people ask

How many people fit in a rental van in Sri Lanka?

Typically between seven and fifteen depending on the vehicle. Each listing states its seating.

Can I rent a van with a driver?

Yes, and most group bookings are. See the vehicles on our car rental with driver page.

Are vans available for airport pickups?

Yes. Owners meet arriving flights at Bandaranaike International with the flight number you provide.

Is a van difficult to drive here?

It is wider and slower than a car on narrow hill roads. For a touring itinerary, consider booking a driver with it.
